Show SI BASEBALL TRYOUT CAMP SET FORJUNE 3-5 The Pittsburgh Pirates will take the r annual look at Irvtermountain area youngsters who have aspirations aspira-tions of breaking into organized baseball at a Derks Field tryout camp in Salt Lake City on June 3, 4 and 5. The daily sessions, under the direction di-rection of the Buc's west coast farm supervisor, Bob Clements, will begin be-gin at 1 0 a.m. each day, Hopofuls are requested to come with all equipment necessary , to participate. Clements will be assisted by Scout Bob Fontaine as well as Salt Lake's Manager Larry Shepard and Coach Charley Sillvera. Since the Salt Lake tryout camp was initiated two season ago, Clements Cle-ments and his staff have worked with boys from ell surrounding states as well as Utah, and have been pleasantly surprised at the caliber of talent uncovered. Several of the participants of the last two camps have gone on to spring try-outs try-outs with the Pirates' minor league teams in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. The camp is restricted to boys from 16 to 22 years of age, and players in American Legion pro-' pro-' grams must have permission of their post commanders to participate. O |
