The NCO Association determines the winner of the Freedom Award by selecting the best essay submitted by the students on the subject, "What Freedom Means to Me." CMSgt. Philip C. Sandifer, senior enlisted advisor to the commander, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker AFB, Okla., was the guest speaker. He told the students to expect to encounter resistance when they apply what they learned in the leadership school w hen they return to their duty sections. "You might be told you're back in the real Air Force, so forget everything they taught you at school," he said. He advised graduates to consider the source and consider the facts when they hear this kind of statement. Professional jealousy is probably the cause of such statements, he said. He pointed out that only the best NCOs are selected to attend leadership school and the Air Force would not disrupt people's lives and work and spend thousands of dollars if it didn't think that leadership school is important. "Look around and see that the school and those who graduate from it have the support of commanders, first sergeants and supervisors," he said. "When you return to your duty section," he said, "remember that one of your roles as a supervisor will be to provide motivation. Motivation is provided through delegation and support," he said. He went on to say that two of the most powerful tools of motivation are grooming your people for success and showing them support. "High support," he said, "equals high morale w hich in turn produces a high motivation to do a good job." He encouraged the students to meet new and as future leaders, to be there challenges head-on- , for their subordinates. Other graduates of Class 91-- were: SSgts. Danel L. Pakewicz and Charles A.
