A long time Pleasant Grove business, Allred's has been located on State Street at Alpine Avenue for many years. Their father, Gordon, started the store. The boys worked in the store and when their parents were killed in an auto accident a few years ago, they took over the management of the store. The company has always lumber and hardware sold 2 e 't t , ? . items but now these areas have been greatly expanded in the new building. There is a steel building in back which houses the long lumber. The shelving, plywood, sheetrock, molding, etc. is inside thes tore. Allreds also has an expanded electrical, hardware and fasteners department. The paint department is now computerized which will be a great service to the customers. Steve said they have doubled their workforce at the new store. They have put in four checkout counters in the front and two in the contractors area in the back. Of course, the new store also has the Sleep Center which sells mattresses, headboards, sofas, love seats, banana chairs, beanbags, bunk beds, etc. They are putting a whole new facade on the building i jf ' I ; Nj'T ' f VT' ' i , v v " X June - Page 13 10, 1998 . i P - I W ' 1 the new store and had just 4,300 in the old one, Steve said. The company has acquired property on the north of the store which will be used for a garden center. This area will be opened later in the summer. There is a wall that separates them but the two businesses are affiliated in a company called Home Town Professionals. i Maybe you saw the Monster Truck mashing those cars painted with Chicago Bulls signs last Friday and Saturday and realized that Parts Unlimited has moved from State Street to the former Nortons store building at 330 S. Main Street in Pleasant Grove. Parts Unlimited, owned by Chris Brightenburg, is now open for business with a much expanded inventory and merchandise area than it had the before. "In fact," Chris said, "this front area alone is larger than our entire store down at the other place." They have expanded and enlarged their performance and race parts and truck accessories. There is an installation shop in the rear, too. Chris said they will offer the same professional, friendly, "we care" service at the new store as they did before.
