Show Citizen, Free Press, Review - Wednesday, June 18, 1997 - Page 14 Names sought for burial list Volunteers needed at KBYU radio KBYU-FRadio, a local, public station that broadcasts classical music and news to the Wasatch Front, is looking for volunteers to catalogue classical music selections. Volunteers, who must be at least 17 years old, are asked to commit to two to four hours each week in the mornings or afternoons on weekdays. Individuals who volunteer will enter information about old 78 records from the KBYU-FRadio classical music collection in a database file. "Once we get items catalogued, we can reference them and play them on the air," said Christine KBYU-FRadio Nokleby, Outreach Volunteer and Coordinator. "This type of music is a valuable community resource because it lifts the spirit and calms the soul." This new volunteer position requires some knowledge of classical music, computer skills and typing skills. A commitment of at least three months is desired. "Volunteers will become a part of team and its mission the KBYU-Fto provide quality classical music to the community," Nokleby said. They'll get some fun concert and broadcast benefits as well." Other volunteer opportunities are available throughout Utah County. Some of these opportunities are listed below. Recruit and coordinate youth e and leaders. Library at BYU. Most communities in Utah County have excellent cemetery and sexton's records and the compilers have received outstanding cooperation from the custodians of those records. However, during the survey phase of the project it has been discovered that before communities were formally incorporated, many of those who died were interred in private family plots which are now unmarked or older. Help parents teach their children. Provo's Parent Education Resource Center (PERC), which provides educational materials for parents, is seeking volunteers to check materials in and out, assist parents with finding materials, and help clean the facility. Volunteers, who must be at least 16 years old, are asked to commit to four hours each week. Individuals are free to set their own volunteer schedules. Computer and writing skills are especially helpful. The American Heart Association, Utah Affiliate, Slim for Life program will help those overweight achieve their weight loss goal.
