The carnival is in town, the rodeo grounds are all cleaned up, 400 cases of strawberries have been ordered and a lot of people are working together to carry on the oldest continuing celebration in the state. Strawberry Days will begin today with the Children's Parade at 5:30 p.m. The rodeo begins tonight at 8 and will continue through Saturday. June 18 through 21. The traditional all day celebration will be tomorrow, June 19, with two Parades, one at 10 a.m. and another at 6 p.m. The parade will start at the Pleasant Grove High School and end up down town. The evening parade will begin downtown and end up at the high school. The doors to the DUP Museum and Cabin will be open at 10 a.m. for tours and they will continue throughout the day. Peterson, the son of Steve and Cathy Peterson of Seminary. She has also graduated from Salt Lake Community College with a medical assisting degree. The Reds will counter the attack with tenacious defense led by Jason Carter, Colby Peterson, Kenny Roseman and AJ Gause. Crystal Reese was singled out as the best ball player, MVP, in the 3A high school division in both the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune. Reese, a pitcher-firs- t baseman, was credited with two of the four wins in the state tournament as well as always having a solid average at the plate for the Pioneers. Joining Reese on both elite lists were Rebecca Allan, Rachel Bailey and Katye Gillman as pitcher, infielder and outfielder, respectively. The Trib also selected outfielder Josalyn Chamberlain and catcher hon Stacey Johnson for first-tea- ors. Callie Gillman was singled out for second team on the Tribune and first team at third base on the News mythical squad. Chamberlain and Johnson were honored by the News for second team recognition. Lund, in addition to her academic standing was honorable mention in the Deseret News. All concerned fans, parents, players and coaches are still waiting for the colleges to make their selections from the seniors on this all-sta- team. Callie Gillman and Johnson are the only underclassmen on the mythical teams. Buckaroo Rodeo signup deadline nearing Preliminary competition for the annual Buckaroo Rodeo have been scheduled for the next few months. The Utah County Fair will host the finals on August 16 at the Utah County Fairgrounds as part of the fair. To compete, area youth must first qualify in a city Buckaroo Rodeo. The top two winners in each event eligible to participate in the finals. Events include sheep riding, poles and barrels, steer's and break away. Age classes are, Junior, ages 8 to 10; intermediate, ages 11 to 13; and seniors, ages 14 to 18. Youngsters 7 and under qualify for sheep riding. The Lehi Buckaroo Rodeo will be held on July 12. Last week the two Salt Lake newspapers named City state-wid- e teams and their to complement for teams in the academic all five scholastic divisions. Lehi placed all nine of its starters on the list of 3A honorees.
