The following recipes were shared with readers of the fabulous Sixth Ward Recipe Book, and we decided to share them with Free Press readers, too. Here are some recipes for you: 1 Carrot Chowder 34 cup butter 1 tsp. salt 1 quart half and half cream quarts boiling water lbs. ground beef, made into small 12 inch meatballs 14 tsp. salt 12 cup chopped green onions Brown ground beef. Add salt and vegetables. Worcestershire sauce Simmer until done. Makes two 1 package quarts. 2 cups diced cooked ham 1 1 potatoes, scrubbed and cut 1 tsp. salt 2 can creamed corn cup hot milk 2 cups diced potatoes 1 Tbsp. sugar 4 cups boiling water 12 tsp. pepper crackers Saute onion in a little butter, about 5 minutes. Add vegetables and ham in layers. Sprinkle with sugar and seasonings; then add boiling water and cook until potatoes are tender. Remove from heat and slowly stir in hot milk. Serve with crackers.
