In the second quarter the Pioneers opened up the throttle and scored three quick touchdowns. The first came at the end of a 66 yard drive in a five yard run by Joe Mattson. Carbon's resulting kick-of- f return was dropped for a loss by Wyat Cutler. On the first one-yar- d down, the ball was stripped away by Doug Degelbeck and covered by Brad Porter on the Carbon six. The next play was a Cole Cooper to Matt Ekins six yard TD pass. Carbon filled their allotment of downs then punted away. Cutler took the punt 62 yards but slowed for a block and was caught from behind on the one: He then punched it over the line. After one more Lehi turnover the half ended at 20-- 3 for the Pioneers. The Dinos ate up the clock in the third quarter finally scoring after a 79 yard drive to bring the score to 20-1- 0. Lehi took its first possession 62 yards to finally score on a pretty catch by Dave Christofferson from Cooper. The following Carbon possession was literally stolen as Nathan Buhler emerged from a gang tackle with the ball. This set up the Pioneers on the 31 and led to another scoring pass from Cooper to Bart 13-ya- rd one-hand- Brockbank this time for three yards. That completed the scoring at for the Pioneers. Cooper completed twelve of 21 for 119 yards, about ten yards a pop, three of them for touchdowns, but let go two interceptions. Half of the completions went to Ekins who turned them into 48 yards of offense. Christofferson had three for 47 and Cutler caught two for 21 yards. Mattson compiled 11 carries for 87 yards before going out in the fourth from a hand laceration and shot to the ribs. Cutler collected 17 yards on seven carries, but his shining stat is a total return yards and the age of 110 on two one punt. Dan Wilson came in late in the game and on four consecutive carries made 30 yards. Marc Wilson added three points through PAT kicks. A rarely mentioned offensive line consisting of John Belles, Scott 33-1- 0 kick-off- Hampton, Trent Olsen, Colby Holmes and Jeff Rushton did a superb job in keeping the Dinos off the backs and off Cooper who was not sacked once in the game. Gavin Hooley was the defensive standout again with nine tackles and five assists. The other middle linebacker, Buhler, contributed 10 and Hampton, Degelbeck and Adam Black had seven, six and six respectively. Dan Wilson and Brendan Felix each had five. Wilson, Hampton, and Hooley each had a sack apiece for a total loss of 23 yards. 17:04 in a race where only two boys did not break 19 minutes. Molly Wadley put it together to beat easily all Region 7 girls and place 14th in a field of 93 representing 20 schools. Molly's finish was, likewise, the highest in Lehi girl's cross country since the change to 3A. Molly's time was 20:21. Sheramy Johnsson fran again with bruised tail bone and still managed her career best time. Sheramy ran region and state with a lot of discomfort so Lehi could post team scores. Amber Grimly ran the best time of her three years on the cross country team. At region Amber suffered severe energy depletion, but she came back to run very strong at state. Becky Chadwick strained ligaments early in the season but hung regular scheduled evenings. Entry fees will be $5 per event, plus bowling fees. Entry forms will be available at Jack and Jill Lanes in American Fork. A bake sale will be held in conjunction with the tournament. The American Fork City women's bowling association will hold their annual tournament Nov. 2 through 10. Jon McKinnon preserved his number one status in Region 7 by placing higher than any other runner from thatregion. Jon took 36th, the highest finish for a Lehi runner since Lehi returned to 3A.
