He gets paid for doing what he enjoys. And even through his engineering team consists of only four people, every employee considers him a coworker. His name is Stan Street, American Fork Hospital's August Employee of the Month. Ifs not hard to see why Stan is well liked among hospital employees. He's always got a smile on his face and seems to be one of those envied people who really knows how to enjoy the moment. As Engineering Supervisor, Stan knows the hospital inside and out. He said he learned his trade from his father who was always repairing a leaky faucet or the family car. Stan also attended Utah Technical College where he earned an associate degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, his specialty. His entire career has been with American Fork Hospital, although he did work two years with a refrigeration company in Salt Lake City right after graduating from Utah Tech. In October, he will celebrate 20 years of service with the hospital. Because Stan keeps the entire hospital working properly, he interacts with almost every employee. Everyone had something to say about Stan: "He can be bought for a Diet Cherry Coke." "Anyone who knows Stan, likes Stan." "Stan makes everything more fun." "He makes me laugh, but don't wear a hat around him he'll pull it down over your eyes every time." "Don'thave afire withoutStan." Stan does know about fires. He is assistant chief of the American Fork Volunteer Fire Department, an organization he has been with for 18 years. It's the answer Stan gives to, "What's your favorite hobby?" The fire department is an important part of his life. Even more important is his family. His first priority is his wife, - Cathy, and his five children Roger, Bill, Rob, Elizabeth and Rebecca, along with his five grandkids Sidney, Nicole, Madison, Matthew and McKenzie. The hospital has enjoyed Stan's talents on the Employee Council, Credit Union Board and the Safety Committee. He has also served as chairman of National Hospital Week and is currently an American Fork Hospital Safety Officer. Stan enjoys working for the hospital because of the great association he has with everyone. "I've made a lot of good friends over the years," Stan said. It's not uncommon for Stan to drop by the hospital on his day off just to make sure everything is okay. He's always looking out for other people and pitching in where he can . Lots of people say they care; with Stan, you believe it. September 25 Boy to Clark and Lori Welker Esteban of Pleasant Grove. September 26 Girl to Gary and Dawna Wilkinson Major of American Fork. Representatives from most colleges, universities, junior colleges and community colleges will be there to present information on the requirements for admissions, scholarships and financial aid. In the past, the college repre- sentatives would travel to each high school where the seniors would be let out of school for the day to attend various presentations. With in the schools and the lack ofsufficient classroom space for the presentations, this is no longer practical. To increase the cost and time effectiveness for both the students and the college representatives, Utah Valley Community College and Brigham Young University are sponsoring the Utah County College Fair on the campus of UVCC. The college fair will provide the best opportunity not only for students, but also their parents, to visit with several schools at one time and to have their questions answered. Also, students will be able to determine the strengths of each school's academic programs and decide which college is best for them. Financial aid officers from BYU and UVCC will give presentations addressing issues such as scholarships, grants and loans. Each participating institution will give presentations. the All juniors and seniors and their parents in Utah County are invited to attend the college fair which will be held on the evenings of Nov. 6 and 7 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Student Union Center at UVCC. The presentations will be the same both nights. If you have questions about the Utah County College Fair, please contact Rex Pugmire from BYU at or Bob Rasmussen from 0 UVCC at Ext. 491. 228-800- 20-5- 0 Visit one of our 16 locations! 785-051- 7 Good Thru 111391 Pleasant Grove 10 West Center GREAT MEXICAN FOOD NOW IN LEHI Hours: Mon-Th- ur 11 -9- -- ,Fri-Sat11 Sun 8 9nw -- VNov.1,2, &3; w On Any Menu Authentic Selection LOS AMIGOS Jood 102 W.
