Birthdays 91st birthday at picnic Florence Butt Platsky to be honored on her 80th birthday The children of Florence Butt Platsky will honor her on her 80th birthday with an open house Saturday, Aug. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the American Fork Senior Citizen Center, 54 E. Main, American Fork. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. She requests no gifts, please. p 'VI ' ' 4 a She spent 16 years teaching in Utah and Nevada, and worked in the Sanpete County Assessor's office in Manti for eight years. Mrs. Nelson lived in Moroni before she moved to Lehi in 1976. She continues to live in her own home and care for herself. She is active in the LDS Church and attends the LDS Temple twice a week. Her hobbies include doing beautiful embroidery work on pillow cases and making quilts. , Florence B. Platsky later divorced. In 1931 she returned with her sister to live with her mother in Lehi and Provo. In 1933 she married Jesse Newbern Butt. They lived in Lehi and later in Fairfield. In 1951 they moved to Mountain Home where they were engaged in sheep and cattle ranching. While there she wrote a personals column for the Uinta Basin Standard. In 1961 Mr. Butt died, and Florence moved to San Francisco with her son where she worked for the National Automobile Club and Uniguard Insurance Co. In 1968 she married Abraham Platsky in Provo and since they have made their home in American Fork. In 1974 she graduated from the Alpine School District's Mothers High School at the age of 74. She is active in the LDS Church, and has been music director in , . till- - Clara Nelson Her four children are Don Jay Nelson, West Valley City; Mrs. Con (Mary) Brady, Highland; Mrs. Art (Georgia) Peterson, Lehi; and Carma Home, Salt Lake City. She also has 14 grandchildren and 21 n. . Five generations... several wards as well as assistant stake chorister in the Moon Lake Stake. She has held positions in the Sunday School and Relief Society. She has sung at many funerals and was member of the American Fork Civic Chorus. A talented writer, Mrs. Platsky has written and read tributes to brides and grooms in Utah County, as well as many biographical sketches. She has returned to her native New Zealand three times. In 1976 she was appointed an overseas honorary member of the Beresford St. School Association. She is the mother of three children, Mrs. Richard (Yvonne) Nelson, Lucerne, Calif.; Mrs. Bernard (Anna) Cook, Cedar Fort, and Chad Newbern Butt. She has seven grandchildren and 16 great- - Heard any NEWS lately? CALL trrs.WJ 4 & She was born Aug. 24, 1908, at Auckland, New Zealand, the youngest child of William and Ethel Bambery. She spent her first 15 years in New Zealand, where she grew fond of the Maori people. She moved to West Jordan in 1923, after joining the LDS Church. There she completed the 9th grade and then moved to San Francisco to work, first as an operator with Pacific Telephone and then as a dispatcher and PBX operator for Yellow Cab Co. She married Walter Bollman in 1925. They had one child and were C rv Clara Nelson will celebrate her 91st birthday at a family picnic hosted by her children at Granger Park in West Valley City. Mrs. Nelson was born Aug. 27, 1897, in Louisburg, Kans., to James Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Stark. She attended school in Moroni.
