Radical shifts in values, goals, or live’s rearrangements are not noted by the calendar, though they may be noted on the calendar. Desires of the heart or moods of the spirit, with their joy, despair, or confusion, flow continu- ously, whatever year the calendar indicates. Yet there is something which seems utterly final about the end of the year. It means we are one year older and closer to death. It means that in some important ways we are closer to or further from the goal of our living. It may mean that some crucial questions unanswered twelve months ago have finally been resolved. Now we know. We may be in fuller or lesser posses— sion of ourselves and our powers than ever before: physical power, spiritual power, the power to love and be loved. (location to be announced). Represen- The new Town Council has decided to have two town meetings per month. In addition to meeting the first Wednesday of each month, the council will also meet the third Wednesday of each month. The goal is to provide more opportunity for community dialogue, while still having enough time to get required business done. It’s an experiment. The hope is that having more time to discuss issues will enable community members to understand each other better. This may be idealistic, but the new Town Council wants to give it a try.
