Show CHARGE CITES SUSPECT IN STORE ROBBERY A 24-year-old Bingham man Mcnday was charged with the robbery rob-bery of a Taylorsville grocer and his son Sunday afternoon. Named in the complaint was Gilbert Gil-bert Vasquez, who had been released re-leased from Salt Lake County Jail only 10 hours before the robbery. A complaint filed before City Judge Arthur J. Mays charged Vasquez Vas-quez with the robbery of Frank Pollard, operator of the Economy Grocery, 4861 S. Redwood Road (1700) West), in Taylorsville. Deputy sheriffs arrested him in Bingham through a description of the holdup man's clothing given to investigators by Mr. Pollard. According to the sheriff's office, Vasquez was released from jail at 7:30 a.m. Sunday after completing a 30-day misdemeanor sentence. Mr. Pollard and his son, Eric, I 7, were accosted by a "pint-sized" man who threatened to "blast" them if they didn't hand over their cash, after he entered the store a-bout a-bout 12:20 p.m. The victims said the holdup man did not produce a weapon, but placed his hand over a hind pocket indicating that he tarried a weapon, wea-pon, Mr. Pollard said. The store operator handed over about $75 from the cash register to the bandit. |
