"Only one man has gotten past the first round with him so far this year," said Coach Bill Bingham. No one has survived long enough to reach the third round. The senior looks harmless enough in street clothes. But at the recent Roy tournament, for instance, he recorded three pins to take first place in his weight. The pins came on times of :41, 1:38 and 2:47. Okada recorded his first win in the Roy dual meet, but missed the Cottonwood and Intermountain matches. He stands 0 on the year. Craig wrestled as a sophomore but laid out his junior year because of other academic pursuits. And he pursues academics well. He maintains a 3.9 grade point average, plays trumpet in the band and LanSirs stage band and is a debater. He also wrestled as a freshman in junior high. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Okada of Penrose. 33-1- 9. canned 10 points. Green added six boards and Reed Ashby got 4. Offensively, the Cubs shot 39 percent from the game (38 percent the first half and 40 percent the second half). Logan limped along with 33 percent. Neither team was dynamic from the foul line. The Buffalos hit 5 of 15 from the charity stripe and the Cubs converted on 13 of 26. Kevin Robbins added six points to the Cub output. Perry was pleased with his team's first showing of the year, noting that Logan already had one game under their belt. He was also pleased with the depth on his team as he played a lot of men in the game. "There's some good depth coming," he said, "which will really help us." Perry said Austin Anderson, Jimmy White, Nathan Rose and Todd Hill all looked good in reserve roles. ,: Box Elder will provide the cross-count- Hoop Shoot Contest Underway In County The Annual Elks National Free Throw contest got under way this week in Box Elder County, said local chairman, Ed Laursen. The Cubs face Box Elder this Friday, hosting them at 2:15 p.m. Next Wednesday, Dec. 21, the Cubs are at South Cache for a 1:30 p.m. contest. Logan managed to snare the lead only once in the game when they took a lead on an early foul shot. While Hunter Green provided the offensive show with 24 points, the entire Cub squad put together a good n solid pressing defensive show that was the key to the game. n "We used a pressing defense which seemed to throw them off their game, I thought," said Coach Myrl Perry. The defense kept Logan's leading scorer to an output of just 10 points for the game. "We really played a real tough defense," Perry added. "This is one of the fastest, quickest teams I've had with fair size.. .we're not big," he said. The Cubs also helped their defensive cause by controllCenter ing the boards, Jed Bradshaw pulled down 11 rebounds for the game and Cutter If the cost of gas keepi going up, more and more' garage sales are going t include the car.
