Show THE Board Meets To Give Away Hospital To Housing Funds "This is the group that built the hospital that we're going to give away tonight." That's how North Box Eld- here in'vour bedroom," er Hospital Association Chairman Mel Foxley introduced a group of association members representing the Budgeted J nine communities which bonded to construct the new Bear River Valley hospital as well as unincorporated areas of the county. A Deweyville family left homeless by a May 16 fire will get $5,000 from the state to help rebuild their home. County commissioners have a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 11:15 a.m. to budget $14,413 in state housing funds allocated to the county. Commissioner Don Chase said $5,000 is budgeted for the Jay Lish family, left homeless when their house burned. The additional $9,000 is available for housing work during the coming year. The Lishes were also aided in which is reconstructing their home well under way - by Deweyville residents and the local LDS ward. Commissioners will also hold an 11 a.m. hearing on Sept. 27, to budget $17,000. Of the amount, $7,000 will be used to purchase a drive vehicle for the sheriff's office and $10,000 will be used on the third floor of the courthouse to construct a juvenile court room. The occasion was a formal dinner more to honor the association members than anything now that their work is completed. But it was also the scene for the final changing of the guard. After noting that the association, which has worked for years to make the hospital a reality, probably will only have to meet one more time, Foxley presented a batch of official papers to Dave Jep-psoexecutive vice president of Intermountain Health Care, turning the hospital over to them. The hospital cost $1.5 million and "I see you're willing to give us $10 for it," Foxley joked. IHC now owns the hospital for a token price but is under contract specifying how it will be run. The contract also includes provisions to return the hospital to the association should IHC ever wish to terminate the arrangement. The association consummit-e- d the arrangement recog-niin- g IHC's management advantages. Jessop pleged that the hospital will still remain very much community property.
