Director Pupil Personnel Services What is Special Education? Maybe the answer to this question will help to answer Who's Special. I li Special Education is a term that conjures up a variety of ideas and pictures in the minds of people - some good, some bad - some fact, some fiction - but whatever the picture or idea few people, except maybe those involved in the programs, know and understand what Special Education really is. Special Education is - providing an educational experience to a unique group of students who need either special materials to learn a given concept or develop a certain skill, or students who need a very specially trained teacher to learn a given concept or develop a certain skill, or students who need a very specially trained teacher to not only instruct in skills, but to academic patiently but firmly mold behaviors, attitudes and values which have in some way become distorted so that in a society they can which requires some degree of cooperation. n is a iierapisi wiin empathy, understanding and patience, plus a sound knowledge of certain speech mechanisms, who assists a child to speak so he can have more self confidence and be accepted, both by his peers and the adults in his life.
