Father, Daughter Run Ac A TWvm Duane Bjorn and his old daughter, Polly, recently completed the marathon run from the Golden Spike Monument to the Civic Center in Brigham City. Polly's PE teacher, Bob Byrum, who teaches at North Park Elementary also completed the grueling test of stamina. Young Polly out puffed her Dad by one second as she crossed the finish line with a 385-yar- d -- time. Byrum, who Polly had talked into racing, zipped in at 3 hours, 58 minutes and 55 seconds. Duane and Polly had entered the race last year and their goal was to tinish the race. This year, however, they wanted to beat their time. "We came in nearly 24 minutes faster than last year," Polly said, jubilantly. Polly received a trophy for being the youngest runner to finish, while Dad won himself a certificate, a pin, and a for being a finisher." One hundred and nineteen started and 92 finished this year," said Bjorn. The event has grown from 80 participants who competed last year in the race. This year 11 states were represented in the only certified marathon race in the state of Utah.
