The individual checks account for beets delivered up to Nov. 5, according to Laurence Smith, Utah District for Manager for U and I. Payments be will then since delivered beets made in December. to Today's payment compares at the $5,506,660 paid to Utah growers same time last year. "It should be noted," Mr. Smith said, "that this payment is only a part of the total value of the crop. Other made payments are expected to be each from as the 1977 sugar during payment grower's beets is sold. Total for the 1976 crop will not be known until the final payment next October." Grower payments are based on the net returns from the sale of sugar made from the beets, on a participating contract with the processor. 1976-cro- p "Of course, sugar from the current crop has not been made nor sold," Mr. Smith explained, "so the initial payment is based only on estimates. Considering the present depressed level of sugar prices and the unpredictable and volatile world sugar market in which we now must operate, it is extremely difficult to estimate the anticipated returns and to calculate individual payments to the growers." Similar payments also were made today to U and I contract growers in Idaho and the Northwest. The combined payments in all districts amount to $28,526,590, compared to $40,101,590 in Musical Ehtertainment For The Entire Family !!! P.M. 8:00 26th Friday, Bear River High School Nov. 1975.
