The chief said 136 c&ses involving crimes were handled during 1974 compared to 177 cases during 1973. The local department cleared an enviable 112 of the cases thru arrest or other means. Ogborn' also noted that $13,255 worth of money and property were taken in thefts and burglaries during the year but $7,601 worth of the property was recovered. The department noted a large increase in the number of animal cases handled due largely to the efforts of David McLaughlin, animal control officer, and increased enforcement. The officer handled 601 cases compared to 199 last year.
