Show machine scoring devices, will show how juniors at Bear River compare with other juniors throughout the nation in their understanding of basic skills. The tests should also enable juniors to determine their progress during the year, since they took similar tests last spring during their sophomore year. Aplrl 24, 1958 PROMONTORY Testing Program For Juniors POINTERS By Rosalie Wells New PTA Officers Tuesday evening a PTA meeting was called to elect new officers for the next school year. Chosen to lead that organization are Rosalie Wells as President with Merlin Larsen as Vice President and Helen Brown as Secretary. This year's officers have been Joseph Nicholas, Verna Jensen, and Elva Eggli. Friday a group of ladies met at the home of Doran Nicholas to make a quilt for Marva Stokes. More of that needs to be done so the art of quilting will not be forgotten. Visitors at the Eggli home this week have been Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eggli and family and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kupfer and family of Tremonton. Little Kevin Wells had the misfortune of a deep cut on his head Friday from a pair of scissors being accidently knocked from a shelf. He was rushed to the doctor in Brigham, where it took three stitches to close the wound. A series of educational development tests testing student were completed development last week by all junior students at Bear River High School. The tests, covering nine areas of the learning process and taking some nine and one half hours of testing time, were given in two general sessions, each requiring a major part of Wednesday's and Thursday's school day. Results, when tabulated by do quantitative thinking, ability to interpret reading materials in the social studies, ability to interpret materials, literary general vocabulary. Each lady brought a box lunch and they were auctioned to raise funds for completing the chapel. Music for the dance was furnished by Little Valley with Roger Petty at the drums, George Farnworth playing the electric guitar and saxophone, and Virginia Cooley at the piano. The crowd was so enthusiastic about the dance that they have requested another one which is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 with the Little Valley orchestra again furnishing the music. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Larsen received word this week of the arrival of a grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Shephard (Judy Larsen) are the proud parents who are living in Hagerman, Idaho. The six pound ten ounce boy has a tiny sister, Becky. The Larsens and Mrs. Amy Peterson of Thatcher will be taking a weekend trip up tihere about the first of May to give the baby his name of Douglas Dean. Mrs. Wayne was Toombs pleasantly surprised with a visit from her sister and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott of Florida. This is the first time the sisters have seen each other in 15 years, so they had a lot of visiting to do. Their mother, Mrs. Eathel Raymond of Brig-haalso enjoyed the visit. Mrs. Luana Fackrell and Little daughter Dobra underwent surgery in the Brigham hospital this past week and have been staying at her parents home in Corinne recuperating. Arriving home Saturday after a week's visiting in Ogden and Salt Lake City is Mrs. Rose Stokes. She has been staying at the home of her sister in Ogden. They attended the annual party and reunion in Salt Lake City of the people who have taken tours together. The Scouts and Explorers under the leadership of Wendell Jensen and Merlin Larsen enjoyed a fishing and overnight camping trip to Locomotive Springs Friday and Saturday. All returned home with a good the first of the sunburn season. Also displaying a good sunburn was Miss Beverly Woodward, home from Salt Lake City over the weekend. She helped her father with the spring cattle round - up Saturday and didn't realize Old Sol' had quite so much power in the first days of our real spring weather. Mr. and Mrs. LnMont Wells and daughters Karen and of Mantua with LaMont's Sunday School class were visitors at the Duane Wells home Saturday.
