I'd count the nightcrawlers (I promised not to say that word again) but they don't actually live in the house with the sparrows, bats, Dad, Mums and myself. I feel we should evict everything in the house except people but like some folks don't mind "Potholes", we don't mind bats. They've got to be housed someplace or the country will be overrun with insects. I dort remember having seen as many bugs as I have this summer. I think its just about time for an encore from the seagulls. I'd imagine a good deal of the sanctuary the insects find would be destroyed if some of the unnecessary vegetation about town was taken care of. If the caller had remained on the line for a minute, I'd have told him what Blaine told me: It's his barn and he'll do as he pleases with it. That, I'm sure, is the popular opinion of the majority of the local barn owners. Fine! Its just too bad these barns and sheds can't all fall down at once and take HAL Motel with them. I think the only thing more germy and disheartening than these ditchbanks and unauthorr ized lots is a flu epidemic. It is sad that Dr. Henrie can't administer a needle to cure it all. But then one can take "any of four roads" and FINAL JULY CLEARANCE DRASTIC SWEATERS doesn't forget it. Or is it all that easy when one loves this messy, weedy old town so greatly that he knows that if everone loved it so, it would soon be other than messy and weedy. Wfth tabnt so plentiful in Beaver, it's too bad there isn't somi sort of summer theatre here. The cast could sell night crawlers to help with production costs.
