Show Helper, Utah, Friday, December 21, 1933 THE HELPER JOURNAL PAGE SEVEN x By MARION BONACCI JOINT INSTALLATION A joint installation of officers was held in the Masonic temple at Price Tuesday night by Joppa lodge No. 26 F&AM, and Naomi chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. The services were most impressive and conducted before one of the largest fraternal gatherings in the temple in many years. A. L. Sage of Helper was installed as master of Joppa lodge, succeeding Dr. R. W. Robinson of Kenilworth. Others installed were: senior warden, George Spratling, Helper; junior warden, Arthur Brown, Price; senior deacon, N. L. Pope, Consumers; junior deacon, D. V. Gunderson, Price; treasurer, Sam Stein, Helper; secretary, I. L. Coulter, Consumers; senior steward, Dr. L. R. Grover, Helper; junior steward, M. S. Wycoff, Helper; tyler, Max Bartila, Consumers; trustee, Dr. Robinson. In Naomi chapter. Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. James Monroe of Consumers was installed as worthy matron, succeeding Mrs. James Littlejohn of Price. W. Christensen, superintendent of schools at the Mutual meeting held in the school house. Also the subject on Helper being low in the literary back ground was discussed and the biggest cause seems to be lack of a public library here. At the next meeting Tuesday night, B. H. Hyde will arrange dison cussions matrimony and divorce. WOMEN'S CLUB ENJOYS PROGRAM At the regular monthly meting of the Womens club of Helper held in the Utah service chaDel Thursday afternoon the following program was presented by Mrs. James Charlesworth: Two vocal selections, Margaret Houston; two readings, Marie Leger; two piano selections, Mrs. Jack Cima; one act play by tenth grade pupils under the direction of Miss Orpha Faylor and two vocal selections by Miss Faylor accompanied by Mrs. Charlesworth. P-- T SHOP EARLY Boy Falls to Death in Front of Auto Evans Mallard, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Mallard of Carbonville, was fatally injured Monday evening when he jumped from the rear of a wagon on which he was riding and was struck by a car driven by Lester Blackman of Kenilworth. He suffered a fracture of the skull, a broken leg and internal injuries,' dying in the Price city hospital a half hour later. Blackman, who reported the accident to the sheriff's office, stated he made every effort possible to avoid striking the lad but it happened so quickly and unexpectedly it was impossible. The young couple arrived in Helper early Wednesday morning to spend the holidays with close relatives and friends, after which they will make their home in Cheyenne.
