Show Hilltop. August 28. 1997- - 17 Accidents happen anywhere, anytime Safety is an ongoing issue in the Air Force as well as in the other branches of the military. Here are some incidents from of his belongings down to his quarters in one trip. He tripped on the second step and wedged his leg between two treads. The duty officer carried him to the dispensary for treatment of a badly bruised leg and a severely strained back. A second class petty officer was starting down the ladder in an escape trunk with his pockets full of oil samples and his hands full of paperwork. He missed the first step and fell 30 feet from the top of the trunk to the lower level of the engine room. No one saw or heard anything, but he remained conscious long enough to drag himself to a phone and call for help. He had two broken ankles, a fractured pelvis, a broken spine, and a bro ken thumb. The doctors are worried he may be permanently the Navy. A civilian employee fell backward off a sawhorse he was sitting on. He had major contusions to his back, neck and tailbone. So far, he's missed more than 100 days of work. A Marine sergeant was getting into a scenario that was being played out as part of training. As he left his safe haven, he leaped and crashed headlong into the top of the over a pseudo-chai- r doorframe. He cracked his head and injured his knee badly. A chief was coming back on ship after being on land for a medical problem. When he got aboard his ship, he dragged his two large suitcases through the hatch from the flight deck, picked them up, and stood sidesaddle on the ladder. He tripped and fell three decks below. A j disabled. Athird class petty officer got into an argument with his wife after he'd been drinking. He started looking for the car keys to leave, but he couldn't find them.
