Show July!, 1993 3 Hilltop Times Contracting complex complete and cozy built hub will Newly help increase efficiency within Contracting Directorate. by Bruce Smith Contracting Directorate Many workers on the west side of Hill AFB have watched with great interest the construction of the Contracting Complex. A newly built hub connects what were once four separate buildings. Its purpose is to draw together many splintered functions in the Contracting Directorate into a worky ading network under one roof. The new, dition now connects the four older buildings and will become the center hub for contracting. It will eventually pay for itself in faster coordination and increased productivity, Contracting officials say. The complex is the first of its kind at Hill, and it is so functional that several groups on the west end are contemplating a similar effort. The new center section of the Contracting Complex will house 207 people, a large conference room, a supply room, a computer area and a visitor area. With closures of the base restaurant in Bldg. 1294 and the snack bar in Bldg. 1299, a small eating facility on the first level will be provided in the new complex. The new center also: D Covers a space equivalent to three warehouses in the 1200 building area. B Will realize $250,000 savings in repairs and maintenance in the first five years. D Reduces the procurement processing time from 6 days to 0 days. B Will allow employees to vacate 48,000 square feet of space in four other buildings.
