Sarah Hood Air Force News Service WASHINGTON The size and shape of the Air Force may change a little, according to the new chief of staff of the Air Force, but in terms of "flavor and character," the Air Force will not change. "Indeed, that is the charge each of us has today and will have in the future," Gen. Michael J. Dugan said as he took office June 29. General Dugan was the commander of the U.S Air Forces in Europe before replacing Gen. Larry D. Welch, who retired June 28, as Air Force chief of staff. .With his left hand on a Bible held by his wife, Grace, General Dugan raised his right hand as Secretary of the Air Force Donald Rice administered the oath.. When he and his family thought about this day and the swearing-i- ceremony, they thought they'd have a small, private, family affair, General Dugan said. "It's amazing how big one's family gets, both and professionally, after 32 years of service. "And we're a family that is going to get a little smaller," he said. "Some of our kids are going to graduate and they're going to go work for General Electric or General Motors, instead of working for: General Welch and now Dugan."
