GuFSOCuGlDDCs Hill AFB has been Dlavine host to a total of 20 U.S. Air Force Academy cadets between June 4 and July 15. Called Operation Air Force, the program volved 1,000 cadets who visited more than 60 bases in the U.S. and overseas. Cadets who in- are juniors were given the chance to spend three weeks at an operational base. "We want to give cadets a firsthand look at the challenges they will face when they become second lieutenants," said Commandant of Cadets, Brig. Gen. Sam W. Westbrook III, "Operation Air Force is designed to do that by allowing the cadets to experience the Air Force outside the academy." The program allows the cadets to become m,.. -- - OHO familiar with operational and support missions, in addition to the everyday tasks, ac- tivities I'm and perceptions of airmen, noncommissioned officers and junior officers. The cadets spent two weeks working with officers and one week with enlisted people in several functional areas. For many, the highlight was the opportunity to fly in operational aircraft. "Because we're training officers who will be the future leaders of the Air Force, the operation serves as an aid to prepare them for leadership roles and shows them contributions they can make to Air Force missions," General Westbrook said. l? if E Prof ilo of a VJarzlor Worker keeps hotline going Project Boost to CARE long-ter- m CHAM PUS Sports care Slowpitch team wins tourney ,X. |
