It unfolds an entire new leaf in the great book of Nature, and is something entirely fresh to the outside world of busy people. These coves were discovered some three years ago by Mr. George Liawrence and were afterward partially explored by Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Frank Cideon until their lights gave out nnd they were compelled to abandon their explorations. The coming season it is in contemplation to make a thorough examination of them, and they are certain to become in a ehort time a great place of resort for multitudes of sight OF tlie EXPLtIiEI. iHheT &ud tt. r a&d i4J as Djrii. aa o t?r ut seers. The fine spring weather of the last few days is seeming to have a very beautifying effect upon the face of nature all May came in very around us here. smilingly and has not frow nel once yet. 'The pool room" place of buBinetts of Messrs. Fitzgerald and Keefer, with their tine restaurant attached, was formally opened to the public on the evening of the 1st inst., and drew a large crowd. It is by far the finest and most ornate place of the kind ever fitted up and opened in this village, and consists of four finely fitted up rooms, viz: the bar room, the club room, the reading room and the pool table room, all of which are finished and furnished in as good a style as any such jilace of business between Shoshone and Portland, Oregon on the west, or Ogden or liutte, Montana, or the east The gentlemanly proprietors are well and popularly known in this part of the country. On the night of the 30th of April the only child of Charles Gilmore and wife, aged about eight months, an exceptionally beautiful and intelligent infant, was taken from its bereaved parents by death. The funeral took place on the afternoon of the next day, May 1st, and was attended by nearly or quite all ot the first people of Shoshone. F. A. Hall, surgeon dentist of Ogden, has been in this place for some weeks past, on professional business, ami seems to be considered by people generally here an experienced, skillful gentleman in his line. Your corresKmdent can again, without nauseous tautology, refer to the aggregate amount already this spring invested in improvements in Shoshone, ns the sum total now exceeds 1",(KX, and it now seems aa if this were not one half of what the coming business season's outlay would be. A change of the railroad division to make this a terminal point ns formerly, instead of tilens Ferry aB at present, would more than double the building and other improvements of the village within Bix months next following such a change, nnd there are many things pointing to such a thing as probable. The base ball nine of Shoshone, naming themselves "the Profe9sionals,",wiih Mr. Norman Davison as captain, have made an engagement with the Ilailey nine, to play a match game on their grounds near the railroad machine shops, Shoshone, for ?1(X) a side, on the afternoon of May 10th, and are drilling for the match. The names nnd positions held by this nine are as follows: Ballard, pitcher; Smith, catcher; Walsh, first base; Barker, second base; Brown,- third base; Davison, short stop; Slater, left field; Beverly, center field; Murray, right field. They are determined to make a record during the season. There is also a base ball club of unprofessional, and another of juveniles, drilling for the summer cam. paign, nnd the juveniles are giving their chief attention to the subject. up tL country. pMushziir m.ih K.v ud V.
