An "informal tea," as the hostess modestly mentioned it, was given by Mrs. II. W. Smith on Tuesday evening of last week in honor of her mother, Mrs. who was about to depart for Omaha. The hostess received in a handsome and appropriate tea gown of yellow silk, assisted by Mrs. J. I). Gill in a lovely dress" of pink. Mrs. Sherbourn wore an elegant tea gown of black silk with heliotrope garniture. The parlors were beautifully decorated with cut flowers and plants, pink and yellow being the predominating colors. Mrs. M. E. Allison returned Inst week from a sad journey to Michigan, where she was pulled by the fatal illness of her mother. Mrs. A llison was the youngest child and bound by the ties of peculiar tenderness the mother heart feels for the youngest ot her flock, and it seemed that she could not be reconciled to depart without once more looking upon the face of the beloved one. Uut the frail tenement could not hold back the eager spirit and four hours only before the journeys end was reached the mother departed this life. Mrs. Allison has the sympathies of a large circle of friends in this city in her great berenv- - that Mrs. Ed ward Ilischel had returned to Ogden with Mr. Ilischel. He came to remain about three weeks to put his business in order and Mrs. liischel remained in Denver to visit friends. He will join her there in about two weeks and they will spend the summer at Mauitou, Colo rado. Un September 1st they wilt return to Ogden and will commence housekeeping as permanent residents of this city. Rev. J. F. Moody, pastor of the Firat Isaptist church of thiscitv, returned yes terd ly from a visit to California his former home. Mr. Moody has been com pelled to be absent from the city on ac count of the sickness of members of his family who it appears could not stand the high altitude of Utah. He is not certain yet whether they will now be able to get along with the climate or not.
