The first annual Labor Day Triathlon will be held 30 starting at 7 a.m. The course will consist Aug.half-mile of a swim at the indoor pool, a bike ride around Perimeter Road and a three-mil- e run, twice around the par course. Training preparations should begin now to reduce chances of injuries and to achieve better times. Individuals will be timed in heats from the beginning of the swim to the end of the run. Teams will be timed by events and added together, so tags or baton exchanges will not be necessary. The bike route will begin by taking a left out of the gym parking lot and a left onto 11th Street. Continue on 11th Street across South Gate Drive to Perimeter Road toward Area C housing. Ride past the golf course and flightline for approximately six miles. Next, take a left on Hickory Street to Ward-leig- h Way (Second Street) and take another left. Take a right on H Street and continue straight on 11th Street to the Famcamp. Individuals should be reminded to consult a physician before beginning any physical endurance program. Stretches and warmups should precede every e 10.7-mil- day through Friday and 11 a.m.-- 5 p.m. weekends. Pool No. 2, east of the NCO Club, is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. However, if you're a better than average swimmer, then running or biking should be substituted for some of the swimming workouts. Stop watches are very helpful when preparing for a timed event. Lifeguards are available to help with breathing, strokes, turns or equipment while swimming.
