Aguirre - JO?- Ogden ALC Public Affairs Office ' -- The real purpose of the annual Air Force Association Charity Golf Tournament here is "charity," and the results of this year's tourney have been called "successful beyond expectations." Tournament chairman Bill Schilling and assistant Vera Berg-strohope to clear more than the $13,000 awarded in 1985 to three local Air charities. Also combined with the tournament is "Focus on Defense," an annual event held by the Utah Air Force Association to provide the opportunity and a public forum for hearing noted speakers on defense issues. Wednesday night, prior to the tournament, 150 Air Force members and local community and industry leaders listened to Maj. Gen. M.T. Smith, deputy chief of staff, Production Assurance and Acquisition Logistics, Air Force Systems Command, speak on the Air . The following morning, more than 230 golfers, both excellent and hack- ers, gathered at the Hill AFB Officers' Club for signup, rule instructions and breakfast prior to starting the two-daevent held at the Hubbard Memorial Golf Course at Hill and the Wolf Creek course in Liberty. Teams arriving here will be from Kelly AFB, Texas; McClellan AFB, Calif.; Robins AFB, n Ga.; AFB, Ohio; and Tinker AFB, Wright-Patterso- Okla. The event consisted of a National Field Archery Association field round. The club will hold its next shoot Wednesday at 9 p.m. following the scheduled work party. Soccer registration upcoming A soccer registration for the special Region 198 American Youth Soccer Organization has been set for tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Sports Center in Sunset.
