He said, "That's a lot of paperwork, and we will try to eliminate some of it by taking a close look at reporting requirements that have built up over the years." His office, along with other Information Requirements Management and Control offices throughout the Air Force, will manage the reviews at installation and headquarters levels. They will identify and cause a review of the reports. Mr. Peterman stressed that the decision to keep, revise or eliminate reports will be made by the office that requires the documents. He said his office will tomated and manual reports. This "reports scrub," as the Air Force is calling it, was inspired by an Air Force Management Analysis Group study that found more than 100,000 reports including copies and multiple printings-a- re produced annually at each Air Force base. "The success of our 'scrub,' Mr. Peterman said, "will depend on the support it gets from managers and workers throughout the command. "Originators and users of reports are our target audience. We want everyone from clerks to analysts to specialists to managers to get involved." Air Force officials expect the scrub to result in reduced printing, storage and mailing costs; fewer manhours;. less computer time and fewer reports. They also say the review will possibly drive changes to regulations that require reports. Results of the reports scrub are to be announced by information systems officials in April. Many different programs profited from the extra effort put out by chapel users across the command. Four bases provided food baskets worth more than $4,300. Six bases gave $14,000 to Ethiopian famine relief alone. Other recipients of aid in December were the House of Bread, the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and various orphanages. While final reports are not yet in, we expect the total raised in AFLC chapels to be around $32,000. God has blessed our country in many ways. Not least among those ways are the good people of the U.S. Air Force. We commend the blue suiters of our AFLC chapels in particular for their thoughtfulness in this Care and Share Drive. I suspect this good example is largely unknown or ignored by the American public. What should not be ignored is the persistent generosity of our "blue suiters" in helping the needy. . : Military people at Air Force Logistics Command bases responded with uncapped generosity to the president's recent "Care and Share" appeal to help the needy in a special way this Christmas season.
