Leo Marquez, before departure for his new assignment were Air Force. Achievement Medals to four members of the 2952nd Combat Logistics Squadron and the Air Force Logistics Command Significant Achievement Award to an electronic integrated systems mechanic in the Directorate of Maintenance. The five earned the honors for their performance as members of a Hill AFB depot field team in support of the Egyptian Air Force Hard Broke Program. Melvin W. Smith, MSgt. Edwin D. Williams, TSgt. Arthur W. Hughey, TSgt. David J. Willoughby, SSgt. Leroy C. Sykes Jr., SrA. Gary H. Gries and SrA. James B. Pettigrew f served 156 days temporary duty in Cairo, Egypt. During that time they identified more than 400 line item discrepancies with two Egyptian Air Force "Hard airBroke" extended downtime craft and implemented extensive maintenance actions to return them to service. The two aircraft had not been in operational status for more than two years due to massive undocumented cannibalization of components and required more than 400 line items to return them to fly able condition. The team initiated extensive maintenance actions that returned them to active service, including repair of avionics systems and generators and F-4- electrical all E electronic and ' components. They removed and repaired four complete cockpit interiors, replaced ot F-4- was flown June 22 after 972 days of extended downtime and although it was not released from the functional check flight at that time, it was released this month. F-4- All work was performed with resourcefulness under the most austere bare base conditions, including limited supply support and personal conveniences, poor lighting, no hangar door protection, extreme temperatures and frequent sand storms. . - Service 20 39 32 38 32 years years years years years years . 67-021- E 2 As Col. There were three minor and major components of auto-pilsand removed control systems, flight contaminating the fuel and hydraulic systems and purged and operationally checked all systems, components and accessories. The month of June is the beginning of the vacation season for many people. However, for 27 civilian employees of Hill AFB, it signified the beginning of their retirement from federal service.
