The following incidents were reported to Security Police between July 19 and 26: Fifty "sample" checks were taken from the counter at First Security Bank, Bldg. 1235, July 21. The checks had various aircraft drawings printed on them and were serv. ing as samples for the public. Quarters were broken into on 4th Street between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. July 21. Entry was through an unsecured window. Missing were two $50 TDY from quarters on Hancock Circle July 20. Three spray guns valued at $156.11 each were recovered. If we let them down, it makes us look bad, and it makes the entire federal government look bad. Fraud, waste and abuse publicity is highly visible these days. Horror stories about people who got caught are used often. '"Scare tactics, you might call them. Scare tactics offend some people, mostly people who wouldn't think of cheating the Air Force and are insulted that someone might suggest it. They authorize the travel and they can disapprove expenses that seem excessive or fraudulent. If horror stories and supervisors can't stop fraud, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations will, with the help of observant accounting and finance people. Neither of those groups is stupid. They quite often catch people who cheat. Don't be afraid to ask the Air Force for any reimbursement to which you are entitled. You'll never be prosecuted for honest mistakes, either.
