The change resulted in saving new procurement costs of 25 percent of the assemblies previously required and saving the Air Force $70,780. Two instrument mechanics in the Directorate of Maintenance, Bobert I. Rasmussen and Kurt E. Lloyd, shared a suggestion award of $915. The two devised a tool to remove worn bearings and install new ones on the AIM-9-, Sidewinder P servo AC generators. The technical order was supplemented to authorize the repair and the percent . of HILL TOP TIMES 1980 replacement generators previously required. The Air Force realized a savings of $42,720. An award of $1 ,100 was shared by Jeffrey L. Potter and Wayne K. Larson, electronic measurement equipment mechanics in the Directorate of Maintenance, as a result of their suggestion. The two developed a procedure to repair cathode anode assemblies on the electronic equipment used to test the infrared reconnaissance system detector on the RF-4aircraft. Their suggestion resulted in solving a work stoppage problem and ending the cost of procuring entire assemblies. The Air Force realized a $79,765 savings. The savings figure reflects only three of their four combined suggestions because figures on the fourth Idea are not available. The two, working on the Navigation aircraft In the Directorate of System for the Maintenance here, have been paid more than $750 each for their efforts. Their Ideas Include repair of a roll and pitch synchro module, knobs on the system front panel, a fig for checking the noise on potentiometers and cleaning potentiometers for further use.
