Show Page HILL TOP TIMES 8 Record Set in Test Firing Minuteman Missile Motors record was set by members of the Range and Data Acquisition Section A recently when they test fired three Minuteman missile motors in one week. A normal workload for a week is firing of one motor. This is the first time in the seven year history of the program at Ogden AMA that more than two motors have been tested in a week, ac cording to Maj. George F. Myers, chief of the Range and Data Acquisition Section. Firing of the missile motors at Hill Test Range is part of Surveillance Program, which tests motors to insure that the Minuteman missile fleet is operational at all times. were the for firings are responsible of the units four to assigned Range and Data Acquisition men The who Test the Section Operations and Technical & units is currently y i - t - wt ifir- possible. Each fired motor must be returned to Hill before the next is fired. This means two round trips with a tractor-traile- r had to be made as well as all other preparation for firing. The Photographic Unit, headed by Richard E. Anderson, was responsible for setting up and running the photo coverage of the firings. Since it is unsafe to physically observe the firings except from a distance, this coverage allows visual observation at real-tim- e speeds, in slow motion, and also provides a permanent visual record of the firing. Having three firings in one week necessitated setting up extensive photo coverage mission.
