The advertising publication called the "Paid Piper," will be distributed to the various activities on base each Thursday morning, another service offered by the Civilian At a r r Mrs. Jones is responsible for the justification for all new data processing hardware that is installed in, or man- aged by the Data Automation Division. She administers the contracts with, computer manufacturers, such as IBM, RCA, NCR, CDC and, in the near future, Burroughs. These contracts cover more than six million dollars worth of purchased ADPE; two million dollars annually for leased equipment; and $230,000 a year in maintenance contracts. She conducts a continual analysis of records and reports to determine trends or changes, noting problem areas, correcting and documenting these problems with recommendations for management review or correction. She analyzes and controls the performance of each newly installed ADPE System or individual component of a system, for at least 30 days, to determine if each component meets a rigid performance test standard. Mrs. Jones came to Hill AFB in 1943, beginning as a clerk typist in the Air Transport Command, and is now in the Air Freight Terminal. In 1948 she transferred to the Data Services Division (later the Data Automation Division), as a Control and Audit Clerk in the aircraft processing unit. Three years later she was promoted to supervisor of the Military and Civilian Personnel Processing Control Unit. In 1957 Mrs. Jones was reassigned to the Data Automation Plans Branch, as an equipment officer, assuming the responsibility for accountability of all Data Processing mmmm r Leah Jones Equipment at Ogden AMA. Since then the Data Automation Division has installed 17 automatic data processing computer systems. The division has grown from approximately 340 personnel to the present 727 personnel. Mrs. Jones has received a Zero Defects Award, a Cost Reduction Program Award, and two Sustained Superior Performance Ratings for her outstanding work. She has a married son, Dennis, who is attending Weber College and is employed in the Data Automation Division. Her spare time interest is decorating and furnishing a home recently built in Ogden Canyon for her retirement - years.
