Sip 'n' Surf Cafe offers coffee and Internet access in Pi By Karli Poyfair City Editor A new Internet Cafe is now open in Pleasant Grove for 'customers to come in and surf the Internet while sipping coffee or other drinks. The Sip 'n' Surf cafe is located at 200 East State Street, in a totally remodeled remod-eled building. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are currently 11 computer stations set up where customers can bring their drinks or food and sit down and surf the net. For the first month, owner J.R. Jackson said customers can buy food or drink items and then use the dollar amount they spent towards Internet time. Normally, the cost to use the high speed Internet access is $8 an hour. Jackson said all the computers com-puters are set up with software soft-ware that can filter out violent vio-lent or pornographic web sites. There will be free e-mail e-mail accounts available and Jackson said in the future they will host Learn the Web classes as well as a senior's night. Sip 'n Surf will serve all types of coffee, smoothies, cappucino, lattes, soda, and chai, which is a type of tea.-Jackson tea.-Jackson said all of the coffee's cof-fee's will also be available decaffeinated. Along with drinks, the cafe will offer pastries, cheese cake, chocolate choco-late cake and ice cream cake. Panini sandwiches will also be available to order. Jackson said he chose the Pleasant Grove site because of the building's location with a view of State Street. "We offer a valuable service and a casual atmosphere," Jackson said. Large couches and TV screens are placed throughout the area, inviting invit-ing customers to just hang out and relax. Another Sip 'n Surf is located in Lehi. Jackson said the Internet connection there will not be completed for another six weeks or so. By Tina Chadwick Heidi's Scrap-n-Stuff, formerly for-merly C.W. Outlet, has been in business for over a week now and has a lot to offer to the person who scrapbooks. Not only will Heidi's have the latest in scrap booking supplies but the new hours will make it possible to shop when you need them. Heidi's will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. New owner Heidi Gray "loves scrapbooking" and is married to the former Lehi resident, Zane Gray. They have two children and currently cur-rently live in Taylorsville. He will be displaying his artwork and doing custom drawings on request. Gray will hold scrapbook classes on a weekly basis where "you can bring your supplies, a few munchies and just scrapbook." Monthly or bi-monthly classes will be held to learn a new technique. Be sure to get on the mailing list for dates, times and specials. A scrapbook page contest will also be held on a regular regu-lar basis. Customers may as enter as many times at they wish. "It is free to enter and free to vote on the page that you like the most." The prize will be a scrapbook tote. The die cut center is still in place but has moved downstairs. They can be reached by calline 766-5384. 6 Encore teachers hold annual festival Square Foot Garden founders create new demo area in Florida Suzy Valentine and Mel Bartholomew, co-founders of the Square Foot Gardening Foundation, returned from a tour of Florida where they met and formed a partnership partner-ship with the University of Florida in Gainsville. A project was initiated to create a new Square Foot Gardening demonstration and training center in Fort Lauderdale similar to their facilities at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. This new facility will be used to teach church, municipal munici-pal and neighborhood leaders the advantages of the Square ; Foot Gardening System. This easy-to-teach, easy-to-learn system can be of great benefit to many groups and practically any situation. The Encore Music Teachers Association held its 10th annual Ensemble Festival Oct. 20-21. A total of 226 piano students participated, partici-pated, earning ratings and points towards gold cups. Adjudicators were Brenda Kimball, Annalise C. Eccles, Molly Reese and Clayton Williams. The top 15 percent were chosen to play in the Outstanding Performers Recital held Oct. 24 at Keith ., Jorgensen's Music in Orem.
