Vffe Department feeds 1,985 hungry people ;t F By Kalyn Secretan i It was quite a shock to go to the 5i Fireman's Breakfast this year and not see ithe usual long lines. Some wondered if there was not the big turn out as usual, but everyone was happy to see that organizers - - tad found a new way to be more efficient. ; Helpers walked up and down the line with a clipboard, if anyone was making a check, they could pre-pay. The line never formed, outside the building and a steady stream of people were served until about 10 a.m. After that, people could just walk in and pay and eat breakfast until 11 a.m. Chairman Margaret Boren was assisted by Camalee Walker and all the fire ladies were thrilled with the results of the experiment. exper-iment. Boren reported that 1985 people were served. The record was set one year when they served 2026, so they were not far behind this year. There were quite a few new fireman on the cooking line this year. Glade Hilton said, "We should be getting more efficient, we've been doing this for 40 years now." Boren praised Smith Brothers Market on Main Street, "They are terrific to work with, we gave them a "list and they had everything ready to go by Friday night. They are fantastic to work with." The fire ladies hope to see everyone back next year on the first Saturday in May. " n " - " "--- , ,i ... . , , , , . . , , , mtmt Step ber 4s forth ts in. at F.J rooE prra :1s azf mail ani:-i ?
