Show Alpine District to honor 3 retirees New Utah! - Wednesday, May 23, 2001 - Page 19 CINEMA X i i BOS An open house on Wednesday, May 30, will honor Jack Reid, Betty Eyre and Carolyn Hermansen. The three will retire from the Alpine School District central office on July 1. Between them they have a total of 86 years of service to the district. The open house will be in the district board room, 575 North 100 East, American Fork, from 3 p jn. to 5 p.m. All friends and employees are invited to the reception. Jack Reid began his career in education as an elementary elemen-tary teacher with Murray City Schools. He came to Alpine District in 1964 as a sixth grade teacher at the American Fork Junior High School. In 1967, he transferred trans-ferred to Shelley Elementary School in American Fork. He wa3 named principal at Cedar Valley Elementary in 1979. He also served as prin- cipal at Meadow Elementary in Lehi for nine years. Since 1990 he has been an administrator adminis-trator with the Alpine School District, first as an administrative adminis-trative assistant to the superintendent super-intendent and more recently as the supervisor over the elementary ele-mentary schools of the district dis-trict (north). Reid has served on numerous numer-ous committees and has directed several major district dis-trict activities during his career. He has worked with district negotiations, bond proposals, boundary adjustments, adjust-ments, and ciirriculum development. devel-opment. He is also on the board of directors for the John Hutchings Museum. He is a resident of Lehi. Betty Eyre is presently the secretary to the business administrator for the district, where she has been for the past 12 years. She started with the district in 1973 as a secretary at Geneva Elementary in Orem. In 1983 she went to Pleasant Grove High as attendance secretary and then as registrar. Her father, the late Stan Leavitt, was a long time district educator edu-cator and administrator. She Jack Reid is a resident of Pleasant Grove and plans on using her retirement to spend more time with her grandchildren, and on boating, camping, and traveling. Carol Hermansen has been with the district office since 1992. At present, she is the aclministrative secretary for the elementary programs of the district. She also worked as a secretary to the counselors at American Fork Junior High School for eight years. Her other employment experiences include: Utah Power and Light, Hugh Davis Construction Co., U.S. Steel and the Utah State Hospital. Entertainment Little London to open 'Noises Off' Michael Frayn's "Noises Off," is being presented by The Little London Dinner Theater beginning Friday, May 25, and running Mondays, . Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through June 15. t The show, described as one of the funniest shows ever written, is an on-stage and back-stage look at a theater, group which is desperately fighting to pat up a show, but their personalities and personal per-sonal lives keep getting in the way. Suddenly they are left on-stage with no idea of what their lines are or why they are doing what they are supposed to be doing and none.of them seem to remember remem-ber a bloody thing. (It's British, you know). It is directed by Paul "Wally" Walstad, and showcases show-cases some of the finest local talent around. Lesli Manning stars as Dotty, a used up old actress trying to make a comeback; Brett Merritt as Garry, who is always, you know, trying to make sense of the, well, you know. Nate Mitchell is Lloyd, "The Director" of the troupe and his interactions with Sarah Broberg and Chad Fulton as his Stage Managers, are not to be missed. Cassie Fulton is Brooke, who's not sure if she's in or out, but as far as clothing cloth-ing goes, she's definitely out. Laura Hoppe and Matt Spencer are Belinda and out the cast as Selsdon, the alcoholic-burglar-actor type.
