The combined lot total on the plats will bring in over 100 new homes to the area. Residents in attendance were concerned about drainage in the subdivision, but were assured the developer devel-oper has approval on a detailed storm drain plan that will provide adequate drainage and not stress systems already in place. Meadow Brook Estates The planning commission gave preliminary approval to Plat A of the proposed Meadow Brook Estates Subdivision at its May 16 meeting. The plat, located at 650 West 700 North consists of 24 lots. A wetland specialist has been retained to identify and preserve wetlands in the area. Sign regulations The planning commission discussed amending the Development Code concerning sign regulations.' City planner Rod Despain felt there are some code areas that are either unclear or are being misused. He specifically cited the regulations on project identification signs, but said it would have to be worded carefully. "The city does not want to create an unlimited pole signage situation," he said. Other commissioners agreed the ordinance wasn't being followed the way it was intended. Commission chair J.H. Hadfield said, "There are already some inconsistencies around the city, like Kmart and Smith's. We need to do some housekeeping in the sign ordinance." Caretaker office denied The planning commission denied approval for a site plan to build a 4-plex that would include a caretaker office at Inn Towne Storage. The commission said there was not enough property to meet four-plex 15,000 square foot space requirements. The commissioners gave the owner of Inn Towne Storage the option of acquiring another foot from neighboring neigh-boring property or dividing the four-plex property from Inn Towne Storage property. The developer was asked to work out a new plan with city staff.
