They made and enjoyed mulligan stew, George's recipe and an old family favorite. He was born in Richfield May 9, 1904, the second son of Heber and Annie Christensen. His first job was thinning beets when he was six years old. He was orphanted at 12 and raised by an elderly grandmother. grand-mother. When he returned he and his sister started a small Christensen Store in Richfield, which began a chain of department stores and the fulfillment of his father's idea to begin stores in the small towns of Utah. He was ordained as Bishop of the Richfield Fourth Ward and instructed by George Albert Smith to "Hurry up and get married." He then married Madge McClellan in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had six children.
