DEC. 29. 1976 by Betty Spencer It is very reassuring to learn hat Santa Claus reads his letters which were published :n the American Fork Citizen. No offense to the post office, but I chose the pages of the citizen to air my annual letter to Santa this year. I'm sure you will be happy to know that not only does he read the letters, but he fills the requests in same in a reasonable reasona-ble manner. You might possibly remember rememb-er my letter to Santa Claus. I started out by detailing a lot of perfectly beautiful Christmas gifts (for someone else) that I didn't want for Christmas. I was someone explicit and perfectly per-fectly frank. In fact, I invited him to gift someone else with these perfectly presentable presents in favor of just two I was asking for. I turned down a black negligee, exotic perfume per-fume and other such Christmas Christ-mas favorites and asked for just one big and one little gift. I wanted a big diamond ring and a little automobile. Imagine my surprise when I opened the last gift under the By Keith Bills, Deputy Heber Grant Ivins Attorney for Plaintif 75 No. Center. Am. Fork, Utah. 84003 Published in American Fork Citizen Dec. 16. 23, 30, 1976. tree and found a box just smaller than a shoe box. Diamonds Dia-monds surely don't come in boxes that size. I considered, and thought that it might possibly pos-sibly be the keys to a new car. Santa Claus was pretty tricky. I opened the box to discover an empty bubble bath container. Tucked inside were two smaller presents, one a package of bath oil beads and the other-I'm still so excited about it I can hardly write-a dazzling diamond ring. You'll never convince me there is not a Santa Calus. Meanwhile, our children and their spouses and their assorted assort-ed children were getting as much fun out of my gift as I was. They laughed and cheered and were generally delighted. Such fun. It was probably my most exciting Christmas during my grown up years. My husband had earlier purchased a microwave oven and it was to be our Christmas gift to each other. I was pleased when he had it delivered a week or two before Christmas, so I could learn how to cook in it. And it is fun, but it can't beat the surprise of a special Christmas gift you didn't think was going to arrive. I kept wondering how some of the other Santa Claus letter writers came out. I wonder if Lita and Todd got the two- BHBaBHaaBBHHBaHBiBdHBHHBaEiEIBHHBtqgBjaqnpip wheel bike with training wheels and the doll that turns over. Todd also wanted a truck. I also wonder if Santa Claus found Lita and Todd. They were a bit worried, as they were not sure if they would be at home or at Grandma's house. There were severeral urgent letters to Santa with this same message and I'm sure that he found all of the small letter writers. I worried a bit about the little girl who put the page numbers by her orders and hoped that Santu Claus had the same catalog she was using us-ing when he filled her order. I was pleased with the presents delivered to me and mine and was especially pleased with getting one of the two presents I asked for. And if some of my associates should ever voice a doubt that there is a real Santa and that he reads and answers his letters which appear in the American Fork Citizen, I'd have to take issue with them. He's a real person who reads his mail. And maybe he is saving the little car for next year!
