Show 1IM Dlm Msim (0) li u USTS Employees Nominated For Golden Key Awards Seija Benita Sainio, a speech pathologist at Utah State Training School, and Diana Lee Kleyensteuber, an instructor visually impaired at the state institution for the mentally retarded, were among those outstanding handicapped employees em-ployees nominated to receive the Golden Key Awards. Both were special guests of honor at a mammoth banquet hosted by the Governor's Committee Com-mittee on Hiring the Handicapped, Handi-capped, which was staged in the Salt Palace. They were nominated by Dr. Paul S. Sagers, on behalf of the institution. Miss Sainio is a native of Finland and has been handicapped handi-capped by rheumatoid arthritis. arthri-tis. She was initially confined to a wheelchair, but now gets to her appointments via crutches. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where she holds a masters degree in communication com-munication habilition. Diana Lee Kleyensteuber is a teacher in the blind program in the education department of UiTS. She holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Southern Utah State College; a B.S. in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University and has special training in educa- V ' 1 - 1 ' if W .Or Z- DIANA KLEYENSTEUBER tion for the visually handicapped handi-capped at BYU and in learning disabilities from Washington State University. Miss Kleyensteuber was born with Toxis Plasmosis, a degenerative degen-erative condition, is legally blind, with 20200 vision. She lives in a "sighted" world through organization of her working surroundings, her apartment and her personal life. The only difference in her teaching is that she does not drive a car, nor read lesson plans in the usual manner. Miss Sainio lives in Provo, while Miss Kleyensteuber resides in American Fork. The teenagers participated in the special bicentennial program of "a million trees for a million people" and obtained the seedling trees at a cost of 10 cents each. The trees were obtained through the Utah State Forest Department, said Loree Brown, project chairman, and included Austrian Pine, Scotch Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Rocky Mountain Juniper, Douglas Fir, and Eastern Red Cedar. Each is between six inches and 18 inches in size, Miss Brown said. The trees were delivered last week in time for planting on Arbor Day, if desired.
