She is employed with the Alpine School District. Jeff is a graduate of American Ameri-can Fork High School where he was a captain on the football team and in other sports. He is currently employed with his brother in home construction. Pre-nuptial showers were given by Charlette Eastman, Suzette Mitchell and Debbie Hallsey. Jeff and Denise will make their home in Alpine. f y v -.A,V x V I I "-' -iini.-M -inr 1 REBECCA BROWN, GERALD HICNKLEY ... to wed Rebecca Brown Engagement Announced; Set June 18 Date Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Brown, Richfield, former residents of American Fork, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rebecca, to Gerald Hinckley, son of William Hinckley of Elk Grove Village, Illinois and Mrs. Lois Hinckley of Salt Lake City. The couple is planning a June 18 wedding in the Manti LDS Temple. Miss Brown graduated from Richfield High School where she was a Sterling Scholar, yearbook editor, and active in pep club, forensics and student government. She has been majoring in Public Relations at BYU. Mr. Hinckley is a graduate of Wheeling High School, Wheeling, Wheel-ing, Illinois, where he was active ac-tive in football, hockey, tennis, student government and was a member of the National Honor Society. He filled an LDS mission mis-sion to Argentina. He will graduate this month from BYU with a degree in sociology and business management. A reception in their honor will be held June 18 at the Richfield Second-Fifth Ward LDS Church from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., 290 W. 400 N. Richfield, Rich-field, Utah. Following their wedding, the young couple will make their home in the San Francisco area where Mr. Hinckley will be in management training for a contracting firm. 4-H Club Meets The Yankee Doodlers under the leadership of Barbara and Linda Steiner held their first meeting recently and chose officers of-ficers and planned the years program. They are taking a new program called American Heritage. Those chosen to responsible positions were President Lori Ann Webb, Becky Robinson, vice president; Camie Humes, secretary; Jeanie Hilgenberg, reporter; Tammy Hamilton, safety; and Sheila Hamilton, recreation. -A IK TRACEY OLSON Tracey Olson Named AFHS Top Secretary Miss Tracey Olson, a senior at American Fork High School, has been chosen by the school's Business Department to be honored as their outstanding secretarial student at the annual an-nual Honor Night Banquet sponsored by the Timp Valley Chapter, National Secretaries Association (International) held Thursday, April 1 at the "Bungalow" in Pleasant Grove. Honor Night is an annual event sponsored by the National Nation-al Secretaries Association which, according to Joyce Bell, CPS, chairman of this year's event, gives the Association an opportunity to recognize the outstanding students who will be part of the future secretarial profession. The National Secretaries Association, As-sociation, whose primary aim is to continually upgrade the professionalism of its members and of all secretaries, feels it is important to recognize those young women and men who are exhibiting the kinds of professional profes-sional skills and abilities which will be an asset to the business world. Along with her outstanding skills in the field of business, Tracey is a member of the drill team and has received honorable honora-ble mention at the Commercial Meet at Brigham Young University. Uni-versity. She plays the piano, sews her own clothes and likes quilting. Tracey participates in church activities and is a Sunday Sun-day School teacher at the Training School. Her teachers have indicated that she has a fantastic work ability. She has a remarkable ability to group a confusing work situation, set priorities and then get the work done. APRIL 15, 1976 Gvyn Larsen is Hospital Employee of the Month Miss Utah Advises Contestants Experiences at the Miss Utah pageant and the Miss America pageant were related to contestants contes-tants for Miss American Fork at a luncheon for the contestants, contes-tants, their mothers, members of the queen committee and special guests on Saturday, April 10. Miss Barbara Hanks, the reigning Miss Utah, was guest speaker at the luncheon held in Provo. She told her audience how she came to be a contestant while attending the LDS Business Busi-ness College, and told of behind-the-scene-happenings at the pageants. She encouraged the girls in their try for Miss American Fork, Miss Utah, and hopefully, Miss America. Miss Hanks also showed slides of the Miss Utah and the Miss America pageant. Special guests at the luncheon lun-cheon included Mayor and Mrs. Malcolm H. Beck, and City Councilman and Mrs. Rodney Turner. Mr. Turner is co-chairman co-chairman of the Steel Days committee. GREENWOOD PTA MEETING REMINDER A special PTA meeting will be held at Greenwood School Thursday, April 15th at 7:30 p.m. Elections will be held and the 4th grades will present a musical program. All parents of children attending Greenwood Green-wood School are urged to attend. Employee of the month at the American Fork Hospital is described as very "pleasant, understanding, efficient, capable, capa-ble, and always willing to go the extra mile.1' She is Gwyn Larsen, and is "ideally suited" to her occupation occupa-tion as Out-Patient Secretary. Her warm smile greets patients and visitors, and her calm attitude indicates that everything is under control. She was born in Lynndyl, Utah, to Ethel and Everet West. Her father died when she was three years old, and her mother took in washing and ironing to keep the family together. Gwyn has worked as a librarian, librar-ian, and worked in the Court House in Provo. She worked as a telephone operator in Pleasant Plea-sant Grove and had to memorize memor-ize every telephone number in the Pleasant Grove area. She has an excellent memory and can still remember many of the numbers that have remained the same. She is married to Joseph W. Larsen and they are the parents par-ents of four children; Newell, Judy, Susan, and Diane. They have seven grandchildren. Civil Air Patrol Plans Fund Raiser The Variety Show originally scheduled by the Utah Wing of the Civil Air Patrol for January 7, 1976, at Orem High School was postponed due to administrative adminis-trative reasons. This show has been rescheduled for May 1, 1976, at Provo High School at 7:30 p.m. A program of movies which tell the story of Civil Air Patrol will be featured. All ticket holders are encouraged to attend.
