Peterson, Cedar Valley Teacher, Retires Alter 17 Years Service Mrs. Lucille Worthen Peter son, who is retiring alter 17 years of service in the teaching profession, pro-fession, will be honored at an open house Thursday, May 21, (tonight). The open house will be held in her classroom at the Cedar Valley Val-ley Elementary School from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and the public is invited. in-vited. Mrs. Peterson's years of teaching have been a joy because be-cause of her love and devotion for her school children. When asked to summarize her feelings feel-ings about her years of teaching, teach-ing, Mrs. Peterson said, "With the love of children deep in my heart, I shall never lose interest in the challenging and rewarding profession of teaching. teach-ing. Helping each child as an individual, and seeing his talents and abilities develop and grow, has been a rich and satisfying experience." Her mother taught school for several years as did five of her eight brothers and sisters. She attended and graduated from Dixie College and later Brigham Young University. After Af-ter her graduation from BYU, she taught for wo yoars ai the Woodward School in St. George. After her marriage to James E. Peterson of Cedar Fort, she devoted her time and talents to her family. While her family was growing she worked as the postmaster of Cedar Fort. When her family was raised she returned re-turned to the teaching profession profes-sion to complete her 17 years of service. She taught at the Harrington Har-rington Elementary School an , 1 ts ' v , ; MRS. LUCILLE PETERSON later began teaching at the Cedar Valley Elementary School. She is the mother of three sons, Gary George Peterson of Nephi, Utah; Paul Peterson of THE AMERICAN FORK CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1970 San Luis Obispo, California; and Jay R. Peterson of Cedar Fort. She is also the grandmother of six grandchildren. Her love for people and willingness willing-ness to help others has made her many dear friends. She is an active ac-tive member of the LDS Church and has served in many positions. One of her favorite hobbies is cooking. Of course, this has not only been a delight to her but also her family and friends. Music and singing have been a highlight in her life.
