Wimmer, now a fellow faculty member at Forbes Elementary School, and his son Sheldon. Both represented former students on PTA program honoring the retiring teacher on "LaRee Van Wagoner Day" at Forbes School. Forbes PTA Honors Retiring Teacher Af "La Ree Van Vagoner Day" Program Mrs. LaRee C. Van Wagoner was guest of honor at the Forbes School PTA program held in the school auditorium last Thursday evening. Preston Taylor, PTA president, welcomedthose present, with Jan Bullock Bul-lock presenting a tribute to teachers. Mrs. Bullock then introduced in-troduced a special program honoring hon-oring Mrs. Van Wagoner, with June Chipman serving as narrator nar-rator for the occasion. A biographical bio-graphical sketch of the retiree was presented by Edith Fox, with former students Leland Wimmer, Sheldon Wimmer, Karen Adams and Sherie Adams also participating par-ticipating on the program. Mrs. Van Wagoner taught Leland Wimmer Wim-mer at the Harrington Elementary Ele-mentary School as aSecondGrade teacher. His son, Sheldon, was a Kindergarten and First Grade student at Forbes Elementary School. Students presented Mrs. Van Wagoner with a lovely bouquet of flowers as she arrived for school on her special day, and she also received a beautiful orchid or-chid corsage to further honor her as an outstanding teacher. A teacher's tribute was paid Mrs. Van Wagoner by a fellow faculty member, Mrs. Myrle J. Boren, while Kay Bond presented present-ed a parent's thanks to this gifted gift-ed teacher. Music for the evening was provided pro-vided by students from Mrs. Van Wagoner' s First Grade class with a special number, "Thank You Teacher" sune by Trina Boley, Susan Mower, Sheila Pe-dersen, Pe-dersen, Cindy Chipman, Lane Robinson, Boyd Wilkinson, Randy Ran-dy Larson, and Barbara Steiner. Mrs. Van Wagoner was also presented with a special gift by the PTA. John D. Durrant Participates in Training Exercise Marine Corporal John D. Durrant, Dur-rant, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Durrant of American Fork, is participating in "Exotic Dancer Dan-cer ni" with the First Battalion, Second Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division, near Camp Le-jeune, Le-jeune, M. C. "Exotic Dancer HI" isathree-week isathree-week joint service training exercise ex-ercise involving an estimated 60,000 Navy, Marine Corps, Army Ar-my and Air Force support troops, operating against an opposing force of additional Atlantic command com-mand units. The operations include an airdropped air-dropped U. To serve with him will be Terry McBride as vice chairman and JoAnn Burgess as secretary. Committeemen who will serve are Wayne McDaniel, Kent Hanson Han-son and Roy Pehrson. Delegates to the County Convention are Lynn Broadhead, Paul May, Geniel Howell and Roy Pehrson. Delegates Dele-gates to the State Convention are Wayne McDaniel and Valere Democrats Elect Dist. Officers At Mass Meetings Held Monday The American Fork District officers for the Democratic party par-ty were elected at mass meetings meet-ings held in each of the districts of the American Fork Precinct Monday evening. Connie Smith Violin Students Present Recital A Family Home Evening of Music was held Wednesday, April 29, featuring the violin students of Mrs. Connie R. Smith. All families of the students were in attendance. The violin numbers were accompanied by Miss Rebecca Re-becca Smith, Mrs. Carla Elia-son Elia-son and Miss Robyn Smith. Refreshments were served following fol-lowing the delightful evening.
