Making known the nuptial news are President and Mrs. Stanley D. Roberts, of American Fork, parents of the bride-to-be. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Gillespie of Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Later the same evening the newlywed couple will be honored ii an open house reception to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the LDS Branch Chapel at the American Amer-ican Fork Training School. All friends and relatives are invited. Miss Roberts is presently completing her junior year of study at the Brigham Young University Uni-versity in Elementary Education. Educa-tion. She is a graduate of Am. Fork High School and LDS Seminary. Sem-inary. She was active in sports at the local high school and LDS basketball and softball teams. She was an officer in the Pep Club and active in music circles. cir-cles. The benedict -elect will be graduated from the BYU with a degree in Political Science on May 29. Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Wright Dunn of Hyrum, Utah. The couple are making plans to be married in the Logan LDS Temple on Thursday, June 12. The bride-to-be is a graduate of the American Fork High School Philodea Study Group Entertain Mothers at Dinner Forty-two mothers and daughters daugh-ters enjoyed a delightful evening eve-ning last Thursday at the Duncan Manor when the Philadea Study Group held their annual Mother's Dinner. Pictures were taken of each mother with her daughter. These pictures were mounted In purse size albums and presented present-ed to the mothers during the evening. eve-ning. Zelda Freeman, in her usual charming and w:tty manner, reviewed re-viewed the book "Everything but Money" written by Sam Leven-son. Leven-son. Tiny Becky Thornton and Cor-ine Cor-ine Carroll sang "I Think the World is Glorious." They were accompanied by Marcla Carroll. A tribute was paid the mothers with the song, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine." EarleneCraw-ford EarleneCraw-ford sang the solo with all of the daughters joining in the chorus. The number was directed by Ar-lene Ar-lene Walters with Violet 3ralth-walte 3ralth-walte at the piano. The opening prayer and blessing bless-ing on the food was given by Faye Thornton. LaFae Savage offered the closing prayer. Jr. Arlitra Club Elects New Officers The Junior Arlitra Club held their annual Mothers and Daughters party at the Alpine Country Club on Saturday the 17th of May. The lovely affair was hosted by the outgoing and incoming officers. New officers for the coming year are President, Mary Griffiths, Grif-fiths, Vice President, Elaine Howes, Treasurer, Carol Robinson, Rob-inson, Secretary, Sharon Beck and Historian, Elizabeth Shill. Outgoing President, Helen Searle took charge of the meeting. meet-ing. She presenied her outgoing officers with clever gifts andhad written thank you notes to each one. Tharen Clark gave an original or-iginal reading which told of each month. The club was further entertained by Kiera' Lewis and her puppet doll, Woody. Kiera is a student at BYU and hails from Idaho. She entertained with several clever vocal and yodel-ing yodel-ing selections along with Woody her talking doll. Her accompian-lst accompian-lst also played three lovely piano selections. President Helen thanked everyone, and especially her officers, for the successful year that the club had enjoyed. Merkley. Officiating at the ceremony was Elder Lynn N. Murdock. The bride is the daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Boren while parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd R. Merkley. Merk-ley. Both families are from American Fork. The newly wed couple were honored at a wedding reception held later the same evening in the LDS Branch Church at the Utah State Training School. Mrs. Harry McTague gave a tribute to the mothers and Janet Taylor gave a tribute to the grandmothers. A Fashion Show was held with Christensen's modeling dresses made from the fabrics available at the store. Mrs. Alice Slater was narrator for this section. sec-tion. Tfcs committee in charge for the evening was Mrs. Leo Meredith, chairman; Mrs. Guy Richards, Mrs. Dale Peterson and Mrs. Newell Stephens as committee members. A beautiful array of colorful spring flowers were used throughout the entertainment area and 122 members andguests were present.
