Auxiliary members sported lovely white sheath deresses with an orange corsage and accessories. The convention was held in Heber City. Fire Auxiliary Takes Honors Members of the American Fork Firemen's Auxiliary brought home a lovely gold trophy last weekend from the Utah State Firemen's Convention at Heber City. The group received first place honors for "best appearance." They were attired in smart white sheath dresses complimented with orange accessories, including includ-ing a large orange corsage, earrings, ear-rings, shoes and gloves. Auxiliary officers are Mrs. Reed (Genevieve) Thompson, president, Mrs. Chris- (Thora) Chadwick, vice president; and Mrs. James (Pat) Hardy, secretary-treasurer. There are about 20 members in the auxiliary. Varney Succumbs at 94 Rose Dorton Varney, 94, died Sunday, June 16 at the home of a daughter in Pleasant Grove of natural na-tural causes. She was born December 29, 1873 in Lehi, Utah a daughter of Joseph and Martha Clayton Dor-ton. Dor-ton. She was married to James Varney, August 13, 1891 In Provo. The marriage was later solemnized solemn-ized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Tem-ple. He died March 17, 1938. She was a member of the American Fork Fifth LDS Ward and was a Relief Society Teacher for 56 years. Survivors include sons and daughters, Lloyd Varney, Ana heim, Calif.; Joseph B. Varney, Idaho Falls, Idaho; LaDrue Varney, Var-ney, American Fork; Ralph Var ney and Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Marrott, both of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Lela Evans, Lehi; 20 grandchildren; grand-children; 81 greatgrandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; brother, David, Rupert, Idaho. Funeral services were held Wednesday June 19 at 12 noon In the American Fork FifthWard Chapel. Burial was in the Ameri can Fork City Cemetery. While she was there she attended the Commencement of the Utah State University where her son graduated with a Bachelor Bache-lor Degree in Business and Social So-cial Science. On Friday, she attended the Baccalaurate and also the Awards Program, where Mrs. Glen (Connie) Wright, received her Ph. T. degree (Putting Hubby Through). This is the way the USU honors the wives of the graduates who have worked and helped to put their husbands-through husbands-through college. While in Logan Mrs. Wright also visited with her son, Craig and his wife Elaine. Craig is also attending USU and will be a senior next year.
