During the 1967 rodeo season he produced and handled the arena direction at more rodeos than he ever had in the thirty-six years he had owned his own rodeo livestock contracting company. He'll be at his post for the rodeo. "The Kids said they wanted me to stay with the outfit for at least five years, and I guess I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't go to some rodeos,"' Jauregui says. "They ended up sending me places a lot farther far-ther away than I'd ever put on a rodeo, like Utah and Idaho and northern California." The "Kids" Andy referred to are Lex Connelly, 42, and Cotton Cot-ton Rosser, 38, who along with cattleman Ed Rutherford of Brawley, California purchased the Jay Spear which was then put into a joint operation with Rosser' s Flying U Rodeo Company, Com-pany, based at MarysvUle, Cal ifornia, and the Golden State I Rodeo Company at Brawley. Jauregui, now 65, is the president pres-ident of the Jay Spear and anyone any-one who has ever known Andy Jauregui would quickly recognize recog-nize that he would never operate op-erate as a mere figurehead.
