Show Thursday, September 20, 2007 OREM TIMES Page 15 Obituaries Fredrick ("Fred") A. Keetch Eva Christofferson Sherwood Fredrick ("Fred") d. Keetch, of Pleasant Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 16,2007. He was born on July 1, 1920, in Lindon, Utah, to Laura Fage and William Keetch. Fred was the fourth of six children. He attended school in Pleasant Grove and Lehi. After graduating from Lehi High School in 1938, he entered college in Logan. Here he attended school in the morning and worked as a carpenter at the Logan Airport in the afternoon. In 1943, on his birthday, Fred married the love of his life, Naomi Steele. Their marriage was solemnized sol-emnized in 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had three sons, Fred, Keith and Scott. Except Ex-cept for a short period they have lived their entire 64 years of married mar-ried life in Pleasant Grove, where they bought and still own their home. As a boy and a young man Fred worked for many relatives and friends on their farms. He also worked as a cook, a hod-die, hod-die, and managed two hardware hard-ware stores. For 24 years he was the Assistant Manager of Christensen's Department Store in Pleasant Grove. He often talked about how much he enjoyed working with his co-workers and the customers who frequented the store. He finished his working years as a school bus driver for the Alpine School District. Fred was also very active in his church and community. For 18 years he was the MIA Superintendent Superinten-dent and assisted with many road shows, Gold and Green Balls, hay rides and many other activities. He loved working with the other leaders and the youth. He was a charter member of the Pleasant Grove Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and participated as presi dent, vice president, secretary and treasurer. He was also the chairman of many committees. He was an instructor in the very first hunter safety class taught in Pleasant Grove to the youth. Fred was also very active as a member of the Chamber of Commerce where he served as president, vice president and secretary. However, his most -loved service was with the Pleasant Grove Fire Department. He served in various vari-ous positions from 1956 to 2000. From 1968 to 1980 he was the Fire Chief. He made and continues to have many dear, close friends in the Fire Department. Fred loved camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends and also with the Happy Hobo group, their Good Sam's camping friends. One of the family's fondest photograph and memory is of Fred and his three sons at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor, where all four were Eagle Scouts. Fred is survived by his wife Naomi, of Pleasant Grove; and his three sons: Fred (ReNae) Keetch of Alpine; Keith (Shelley) Keetch of Lago, Idaho; Scott (So-nya) (So-nya) Keetch, of American Fork; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived sur-vived by his sister, Ruth (Carol) Smith, of Lehi. The family wishes to mention a special thank you to the staff and friends at Home Helpers who have provided much loving care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Olpin Family Fam-ily Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the Timpanogos Stake Center. Marvin R Cook Marvin R Cook, 75, of Highland, High-land, died September 17, 2007 in the American Fork Hospital. Hos-pital. Born May 14, 1932 in LaPoint, Utah the son of Ronald and Evadean Wilson Cook. He married Mem Ross on March 16, 1950 in Coalville, Utah, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Marvin's family always came first, he was a great father, husband, grandfather, and a tease. He was a very service ser-vice oriented person and a great handyman. Survivors include his wife Mern, son Brent (Jackie) Cook; daughters Carla (Stephen) Zimmerman; Zim-merman; Kathy Calahan; 27 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, grandchil-dren, two brothers and two sisters, sis-ters, David (Connie) Cook, Ronald Cook, Jolene Pearson, Judy Leek. Preceded in death by his two children Sherrie Curtis (Loren Michael), Mi-chael), and Blaine Cook (Velina). Funeral services will be held Monday September 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Strasburg Chapel, 6000 West 10400 North, Highland, Utah. She was born June 6, 1918, in Lehi to Alexander DeWitt and Louise Vick-ery Vick-ery Christofferson. Christof-ferson. She attended Lehi schools and graduated from West High School in Salt Lake. Eva worked at Lehi Hospital, where she was trained to be a nurse. She worked at the Lehi Hospital, Cottonwood Maternity Hospital and at hospitals in New Mexico and Colorado. She graduated gradu-ated from and taught at Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indianapo-lis, Indiana. There she met and married Paul R. Sherwood. They returned to Utah where three children were born: Sylvia Jean, Janna Sue, and Marcus Scott. After Eva's divorce she raised her children alone. Eva worked as supervisor of the Lehi Hospital until it closed. She worked for 20 years at the Utah State Training School. Eva worked additional jobs at the American Fork Hospital Hos-pital and in nursing homes. Over the years, Eva cared for many people, and her home was often like a clinic. She also attended many people in their own homes, refusing any pay. Until recently she served many years as an election elec-tion judge. Eva loved to travel and she did so after she retired. She also continued to enjoy growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers in her home and yard. Besides caring for the grandchildren she cherished, Eva made hundreds of quilts and baked dozens of cinnamon cinna-mon rolls for family and friends. Eva is survived by her children. Sylvia Milner, Janna (Shephen) Rogers, and Scott (Jolene) Sherwood; Sher-wood; three brothers. Dr. Paul (Jeanne) Christofferson, Richard Christofferson, and Leo (Betty) Christofferson; a brother-in-law, Gerald Klemm; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters;. Ruth Wilcox, Barbra Stiefvater, Betty Raymond, Erma Klemm, David Christofferson, and George Christofferson. Joseph Counts Ms ii Joseph Counts, age 74 of Lehi, Utah died September 16, 2007 in Provo, Utah from complications com-plications of Leukemia (AML) (Pneumonia). (Pneu-monia). He was born October 29, 1932 in Bar-tlick, Bar-tlick, Virginia to James and Racheal Orphelia Wal lace Counts. He married Betty Ruth Neagle, Nov. 4, 1967 in Tacoma, Washington. Joseph was a flight engineer in the US Air Force (RET) and served during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. Joe was a quiet, gentle soul who had an unconditional love for children and others. Survived by his wife, Betty; children, David (Robin) Collier, Highland, UT; James Collier, Olympia, WA; Catherine Fred-rickson, Fred-rickson, Silverdale, WA; Barbara (Mark) Stacy, Warsaw, KY; Patricia (Joe) Beagley, Saratoga Springs, UT; and Suzan (Bernie) Bird, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Robert (Ber- nice) Counts, Pittsburg, PA; Georgia Nowl-in, Nowl-in, Bartlick, VA; and Clarence Clar-ence (Martha) Counts, Haysi, VA; and numerous nu-merous nieces and nephews.
