Despite Provo's affiliation with the Anaheim Angels, the team decided to go with mountains moun-tains as the backdrop of the logo to reflect the area's environment envi-ronment and scenery. "We wanted our own identify, and we thought mountains would be the logical fit for us," said Gerry McKearney, the team's general manager. The final logo was chosen out of eight different designs, but has spent a few weeks going through some tweaking and minor changes. "It was a long process, but I think we got it right," said McKearney. The logo was designed by Chip Travers, of Tuscon, Ariz., and was recently approved by Minor League Baseball as an official trademark for the Provo Angels. The team's primary colors will be navy blue and light blue. Merchandise featuring the new Provo Angels logo is being created now and will be available avail-able soon. Cap logo designs will be released as soon as they art-approved art-approved by Minor League Baseball. The team begins play June 16 against Ogden at Larry H. Miller Field.
