The Blitz is an intensive paint, repair, and clean-up program that revitalizes a neighborhood in a single day through volunteer volun-teer service. Blitz '97 will take place on Saturday, May 17, 1997 in conjunction with Take Pride in Utah, a statewide clean-up day, and will focus on the Cher-ryhill Cher-ryhill 2 neighborhood. . Painting, landscaping, minor repairs, and general clean-up projects will be completed com-pleted by teams of volunteers, including families, school children, youth groups, church groups, corporate teams, and local dignitaries. The first 450 volunteers to sign up will receive a free Blitz '97 t-shirt. As a new feature this year, volunteer groups will compete to receive awards based on various aspects of their efforts. Additionally, home safety inspections in-spections will be conducted, community information packets will be distributed, curb, gutter, and sidewalk will be repaired and installed, and street signs will be upgraded.
